How did I become interested in Thai Massage?
In 2005, I was looking for a course on energy healing and I happened to find a very interesting description of a kind of massage I had never heard of.
This mysterious massage was done with your clothes on. This seemed like a way for people who might otherwise be timid about disrobing to have a massage.
It had a yoga-like quality. I had practiced yoga for years and it has been a huge influence on me. I view the body in yogic terms.
This ‘mysterious’ massage was Thai Massage–I signed up for a course right away.
Massage is a natural extension of my lifelong study of natural healing. I have practiced many types of natural healing. The list is long and tedious: crystal healing, wildcrafting herbs and tinctures, sound healing, essential oils, flower essences, and homebirth. I offered pregnancy massage in the mid 1990′s. Learning Thai Massage flowed easily from all these practices.
Since that first class, I have completed 120 hours of Thai Massage study, including a therapeutic Thai Massage class. I have 20 hours study in Thai Herbal Compress Massage (a type of Thai Massage which uses hot, herbal compresses). I have a certification to offer Raindrop Treatments (an essential oil treatment) and I am a certified Bush Flower Essence Consultant.
My massage practice centers around helping women and children, and in particular, I help busy mothers. As mothers we have many hats we wear and many responsibilities. It is hard to “lay down our burdens” because someone always needs something. Our stress is subtle and constant.
I strive to create an extreme peaceful environment where you can turn off your thoughts and be quiet. Mothers have few moments where they can completely unhook–I hope their massage time is one of those.
Other Crazy Facts About Me
When you are getting a massage from someone, you want to trust them. Sometimes knowing a little about that person can help build that trust. Here are a few tidbits about me.
- I was born in Hawaii and lived in Okinawa as a kid.
- I worked on an Archaeological dig in Israel in college.
- I have trekked through Nepal, crossing a mountainous pass that was 18,000 ft high.
- I am a devotee of Amma, Dhyani Ywahoo, and Mother Meera.
- I am a single mom with 2 kids that homeschool.
- I side passion is helping mothers work at home. I have 2 websites I’m developing for income. I offer classes for other mothers who would like to do the same.
- I have lived in the Madison area since 2000.
