FAQ

Some Common Questions:

*Will the stretches hurt?

There are some forms of Thai massage which are known for being quite intense, but that is not what I do.

When we do a stretch, we do it with the breathe.  I try for a good, gentle, yogic stretch.  I want you to feel nice and open, but not stretched to your limit.  You should not feel like you are about to break!

You are free to say you want more, less or nothing at all.

*Can I get a massage when I’m pregnant?

Sure, how wonderful to relax when you are pregnant!

Please tell me if you are pregnant.  If you are in early pregnancy, I will avoid doing any abdominal work.

Later, as your belly grows, we can do side-lying massage so that you are comfortable.

And at any point in your pregnancy (or non-pregnancy), if you are at all uncomfortable with what the massage is, please tell me and we will do something else.  I trust you and your body to know what’s right for you.

*How long are the massages?

A traditional Thai Massage in Thailand can be up to 3 hours long.

But few people have the time for that.

My minimum massage time is a 1 hour session (which is usually 50-55 minutes of massage).  I offer massages in 15 minute increments from there.

Most people have a massage that is 60 – 90 minutes long, but I have done longer ones as well.

*What do I need to know before my massage?

Don’t eat heavily before the massage.  You will be more comfortable with an empty stomach.

Wear loose, comfortable clothes.

If you need to cancel, you must call 24 hours in advance.

I have a one time “Oops” policy.  The first time you miss an appointment or cancel without 24 hours notice, I will waive the fee.  Everyone makes a mistake.  After that, you will be charged for the appointment.

*Can I get a massage with _________ condition?

Everyone has various physical and health concerns.  There are very few conditions which would be absolutely contraindicated for Thai Massage, however I may make certain adjustments in what I do.  There are many variations in Thai Massage which make it suitable for many bodies.

For a list of contraindications or concerns, please read What to Expect.

If you have any specific concerns, please contact me and we can talk.
